Judith has made a post about home over at her blog Rasita. after working very hard for quarterly renter's inspection the landlords made rude comments about the tidiness of the house. It's hard when you feel like the home you own is not yours. Being a military wife I have lived in government housing for years. We also have inspections and get ticketed if our yards aren't perfect.
A home isn't made by things or how clean you keep it. A HOME is built with love. The measure of a good home is the happiness of those who live within. We have to move around a lot. David and I have been married for almost 11 years and in that time have had 8 moves. The first thing I always like to do when we get into a home is to put up my photographs. The reminders of the wonderful happy times we have had as a family. I cover my refridgerator with people I love and hang all the photos taken of the girls since they were babies. That makes us all feel at home. We are surrounding ourselves with our happiness only then can we truly feel that it is home.
So to encourage you, Judith, the happiness you have given your children will be what they remember, not how your house looked. YOU are home to them.
A house is built of bricks and stone
A home is built on love alone.
Thanks.
Sometimes I need a little reminding, especially when things seem hard.
