More out of the mouths of babes

The conversation was about faith.  I talk to the kids about Luke 1:37 "Nothing is impossible with God".  They didn't believe me, they were trying to come up with things that were impossible to do, like licking your elbow.

I asked if they believe in God. They, of course, said yes.  I asked if they believed that the Bible is the word of God.  Again a resounding "yes".  I told them, now you have to believe that if God said it, it's true right?  And of course, it was a yes again.

The Bible says,in Matthew 17:20, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Dani piped in..."It's like in the last testament when it says "Go walk on water" and you will walk on water because Jesus told you to"

Dani ended the argument!

Danijela's Magic Hat

Danijela was having trouble sleeping.  Every night she would cry and cry at bedtime.  She ended up sleeping in my bed or in other people's rooms almost every night.

One night Brittany decided to talk to her,  She brought her a "magic" shower cap.  She told Dani that it would help her sleep, and lo and behold it did.  Dani looks so cute in her little shower cap, and right before she went to bed last night she told me a secret...It doesn't just help her sleep, it catches her bad dreams so she only has good ones.  She calls it her "bad dream catcher".

Bela's birthday season officially ended this weekend, with our annual birthday party with our friends from Ashburn. She opened the last of her presents and blew out her candles.

The end of Bela's birthday season, marks the beginning of Brittany's birthday season. It always starts with their special weekend with Grandma. Brittany got her hair straightened.

The girls will be joining with thousands of others who will be taking a day of Silent Solidarity tomorrow, to speak for the unborn, who can't speak for themselves. I am so proud of their choices!
For more information on this day of Solidarity please check out this website.

Our week in review

So what is going on in our lives since I last posted. Well Gabby has gotten over her poison ivy, with a steroid shot from the doctor to help her along a little bit. She really needed it too. That was a pretty bad case, even the doctor commented on how bad it was.

Brittany and Gabby will be spending their first Halloween apart from us. They will be going with Generation Joshua to campaign for Congressman Frank Wolf. They will be staying in a hotel from the 30th through the 4th and help right through the election! They are so excited, and I am excited for them to have this opportunity.

I will be leading my first, women's bible study tonight. I have been leading the youth for about a year now, but I have never led a Bible study for people my own age or older, pray that God will speak through me and touch these ladies so they want to keep coming back.

David and I were very blessed by the lay speaking course this weekend. We learned a lot and made some really good friends too!

Bela had her 9th birthday this week. She is turning into such a lovely young lady and she had a special weekend ALL weekend last weekend, that included a date with Mom and Dad, and a date with her Grandparents.

Stop in and see me on facebook...http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=502679001&ref=profile

One of those days already

Gabby's face is swollen and covered in a rash. Bela's face is covered in a rash (different kind of rash). Bela was out in the woods yesterday I can almost guess that it was a reaction to something she was exposed to there, but Gabby thinks she might be allergic to the ibuprofen she took last night.

The well is fixed

The well leak is fixed! Praise God for neighbors who know how to fix things! Our neighbor worked on the well till it was well after dark, but there is no more leak! One less thing on the list of things to try not to worry about and put in God's hands...but fail miserably and still worry about. Thank goodness God's shoulders are so big!

Unmotivated Day

Feeling unmotivated today, in fact I am downright exhausted. The kids have all been a bit under the weather. Nothing major, just colds, sniffles and a stomach ache or two. So far, David and I have managed to ward off all the yucky buggies, but it is a chore for the body to have to keep fighting all these little germies. I think that is why I am so tired. Gabby has been really wheezy, so back on all her asthma meds till this all passes.

The well has a leak. It is more of a slow trickle and getting closer to the steady stream level. We dug a big hole and the water just keeps pouring out of it. Plumbers have been consulted and hopefully one will be here tomorrow to fix the stream. That is going to be a pretty penny our of our pocket, but at least it will be fixed.

David has a meeting with the pastor on Thursday night to begin pursuit of his new calling in life. It is the first step.

Gabby is going to homecoming this weekend. The game if Friday night and her friend Kyle is taking her, then they might possibly go to the dance on Saturday. If they decide to go to the dance, I will post pictures next week!

Writer's Block

I haven't spent much time on the blog lately, probably close to a year now the posting has been sporadic at best. It's not like there isn't anything going on in our lives, maybe it's that there is too much!

We have thrown ourselves into church and ministering to others. David and I are leading the youth group together, and the girls and I are still in choir. David and I have taken the Critical Incident Stress Management course together and we will be taking the lay speakers course this month. In January, we will be taking the Chaplaincy course as well, which is the next step up from the CISM course. Then we will be certified to counsel people long term, instead of just through the critical incident.

Also in January or February we will be taking the course to become foster parents. We may end up putting our names on the list to adopt, but we will already have the course behind us, and we will keep children under 5 for short term fostering.

David will be going back to school soon. He will be working on a Master's Degree that he can use in Ministry. We are very excited about this new call on his life. Be praying that God will show us exactly where he wants us!

All of these things are reasons that I have been somewhat absent here.
