Back up and running

We are back up and running.  It has been a wild several weeks and many things have been going on.  My credit card information was stolen and used on the internet, so I had to cancel it and get a new one.  While I was waiting for the new card several things had to wait for billing, including my blog.  Hopefully I will be more regular about posting again.

David and his parents were headed to work a couple weeks ago and got into a car accident.  A kid driving to football practice ran a stop sign and pulled right out in front of them.  To avoid hitting him David drove the car into a ditch and tore it up.  Thankfully, everyone was okay.  The boy stopped to make sure they were okay and took responsibility for the accident.  The car has just come out of the body shop and it looks wonderful.

David and I took a Faith Based Critical Incident Stress Management Course, through Christ in Action a few weekends ago.  This was one of the most amazing things we have done in our service to God, yet.   We have already had a few instances to use our knowledge to help people and we are excited about the possibility of taking the next level course, which is the Chaplaincy course. If you click on the Christ in Action link you can find out more about what they do.  David and I are now registered to go and help in disaster situations like 9/11 and Katrina.

Please keep the Belarusian program in your prayers in the near future.  The whole program is not only in jeopardy, but already suspended at the moment because of one young, scared girl.  Please keep her and her host family in your prayers and also the leaders of Belarus as they are making decisions regarding this matter.  Here is a link to the story if you are interested in reading it.   At the moment the news we are getting from the director of our program is that Belarus says that even if they reinstate the programs no child will be allowed back for more than 3 years and no child will be allowed back after the age of 13.  This means that we will no longer be able to bring Sveta back.

Tomorrow morning we will leave for our family vacation to Maine.  We will be staying in David's family's cottage on a Lake there.  I am sure we can all use the vacation.  I may not get a chance to post before we get back.  Have a great holiday weekend!
