Tidbits

Everything is going very well here.  I haven't posted much, because we haven't had much exciting news.  Just the same old thing, daily.

David and I are working on starting up a youth group in our church.  It is a small church and a small community and they haven't had one in awhile.  We are all excited about it.

The fundraising for Sveta is going a  bit slowly, but we will be having a fundraising dinner at church soon.  That will help a lot.

Yesterday, Brittany and Gabby went to the March for Life in DC, with their homeschool group.  I wanted to go out and take the younger ones, but again it was so cold for them.  Brittany and Gabby enjoyed themselves, and they took pictures, but they left the camera in the van that they rode in, so we don't have pictures yet.

Bring Sveta Back

It's that time of year again where I begin to raise the funds to bring Sveta back.  As you all know, every year, our family has a foster daughter from Belarus come and spend the summer with us.  We have to raise the money to get her here.  Last year we managed to raise funds just in time.  This year I thought I was going to start fundraising a little bit earlier, but it seems I let time slip away from me and here we are again at middle of January.

This year we will be bringing Sveta's cousin as well.  The program pays for it the first year so we won't have to raise double this year, but if we want to bring them both back next year it will be double.  If the fundraising goes well this year, it will be a sign that it is okay to bring them both back next year.

For more information on the program click here

Here is a wonderful video essay about Chernobyl, what has happened, and the effects on the people over there

My New Year's Resolution...

---To spend less time worrying and more time laughing.
---To enjoy the kids more and notice their mistakes less.
---To sing more and yell less.
---To notice the good in people and ignore the bad more often.
---To notice problems and try and help find solutions.
---To remember that the mess will be there tomorrow, but tomorrow is one less day I have to teach them, to play with them, to read to them, to sing with them, to spend with them.
---To take each day as a blessing and gift and to remember to be thankful.
