3 year old logic
Conversation with 3 year old Dani...
Dani: Uncle Bill
Me: What about Uncle Bill?
Dani: He died
Me: Do you know what that means?
Dani: Yes, it means he can see me through the sky.
Me: Did Grandma tell you that?
Dani: Yes, but she is wrong
Me: Why?
Dani: He can't see me from the sky inside.
Me: Why not?
Dani: Because the roof is on!!!

Manic Monday again!
Today was a very busy day. I woke up and discovered that I really needed to organize Bela's closet. I figured that out because she kept telling me she had nothing to wear, so I went to take a look and realized that she really had nothing to wear because it was all in a pile in the bottom of her closet. I organized her closet, removing all the winter clothes and hanging all the summer clothes. I finished most of the laundry, folding and hanging and putting away and even took some time to teach the girls how to do a little ironing.
After all that (11 am) we headed out to Sports Class where Kassie chipped her tooth playing hockey. As usual she didn't even cry. She just came to me laughing and said, "I keep finding little tooth bits in my mouth!" (Ew Yucky!). She is not in a lot of pain and I haven't decided if I need to take her to the dentist yet. I am going to see if she has any pain tomorrow.
When sports class was over I came home to work on more cleaning and organizing. I realized how much I need to do before Svieta gets here. We are so excited about her coming, but we want to make her feel as at home as possible and the first few weeks here can be very overwhelming. We are going to put labels on everyday things telling her how to pronounce the english words. We are trying to decide all the things we want to put into her welcome bag. This evening I had an orientation meeting for the Children of Chernobyl program.
David gets to go to Hawaii in two weeks and I don't, but it's okay cause my Aunt is coming from Nebraska at the end of that week and I want to get some stuff done. We are trying to decide when to plan our trip to Nebraska. Since Svieta won't speak a lot of English and she is going to be very overwhelmed being here, we think it might be best to wait until she is gone, but part of us wants to take her so she can have that experience. I think we will have to wait and see how it goes with her here.
Anyway things are starting to fall into place for our summer. It will be busy, but so rewarding. My counselor training is two weekends in July and by mid to late August, I will be a full counselor and the Pregnancy Center. I am so excited to be finally fulfilling my dream of helping pregnant teens!

I have been terrible about posting on this thing again. To be honest I have jsut been too busy. Between homeschool, the pregnancy crisis center, and the kid's extracurricular activities, I just haven't had a whole lot of time!
A few weeks ago the girls stayed with their grandparents. They helped out with the yard.
The girls got to shoot Daddy's gun.
So did Mom.
Kassie shot a hole in the barn. In fact she hit the electrical box. She would have had to be a sharpshooter if she had aimed.
They also got to take a little ride in the trailer on back of the mower. (The mowing mechanism was turned off!)
I absolutely love my volunteer job! The first day I got to chaperone an ultrasound. I am getting a lot of my training out of the way and by the end of the summer I will be counseling the pregnant girls.

Tu-ado warning
Tonight was really rainy and there were a few severe weather watches out there. Dani got worried looking outside.
Dani: Is there going to be a tu-ado (tornado)
Me: No honey that is just rain out there.
Dani: No I see the trees are wiggling that means it's windy.

Sviatlana and more
We have gotten confirmation of our foster child from Belarus. Her name is Sviatlana and she turned 10 in March. She will be coming here at the end of June. We are really looking forward to it. David is teaching us 1 or 2 Russian words here and there so we can begin to communicate with her and the girls will be doing a whole unit on Belarus this summer to learn more about her country. We are very excited about her coming and we were able to put together a letter of welcome with a picture of our family.
Our family is doing well. We have all been fighting this allergy season; it makes us crazy! I went out and mowed the lawn this afternoon. It looks great, but I am sneezing and coughing again. It is very quiet in the house right now. The girls are all upstairs stuffing their clothing and pretending like they are expecting. Gabby went outside that way. They are so funny because they think that people will really believe that they ARE pregnant even though all the neighbors saw them yesterday and know that they really aren't!
Nothing too exciting here this week. We are still recovering from our big week last week aqnd trying to rest up for the three weeks in June that my Aunt and cousin will be here. It will be lots of fun!
Hope everyone is having a great day!

She loves the tapioca
Danijela is so cute at this age. She is so much fun for the girls. The other day Gabby brought her to us and told her, "Go ahead, tell Mommy what I taught you to say."
Dani stuck her little thumb up in the air and said, "Dude, this tapioca is radical!" It was sooo cute!
